Catalyst
The catalyst and fluid separation industries utilize a variety of technologies, most of which are proprietary, to produce products which are typically of high quality and high value. Some are fired ceramic bodies that contain or are treated with an active material, such as platinum, depending on the ultimate purpose and end use for the catalyst. Other catalysts are fine mineral crystalline powders or granules made of special compositions or are treated in such a way as to activate their catalytic functions. These powders or granules may have inherent catalytic activity as a function of their porosity or crystalline nature, or they may act as carriers/support for other catalytic materials. In their granular or powdered form catalysts are usually packed into columns or tubes for containment and ease of handling during their life cycle.
Gel Quality Attapulgite
AMI’s gel quality attapulgite serves multiple functions in this industry. The primary application for attapulgite is as a binder in the formation of molecular sieve granules.
AMI produces several grades of gel quality attapulgite that are highly effective in this industry. They were especially developed for binding molecular sieves and are uniquely effective colloidal gelling agents because of their controlled fine particle size, purity, low silica and carbonate contents. The characteristics imparted to the molecular sieves results in low attrition losses during the granulation and drying processes with the resulting high yields of finished product.
